ASK THE MXPERTS: Does The 2010 Honda CRF250 Use The Same Old Engine As The 2009 CRF250, Only With Fuel Injection Added?

   ASK THE MXPERTS:
IS THE 2010 HONDA CRF250 THE SAME OLD ENGINE AS 2009, ONLY WITH FUEL INJECTION ADDED?

Dear MXA,
Is the 2010 Honda CRF250 engine the same old engine that was in the 2009 model. Yes, I know that it has fuel injection, but that just replaces the carb. is it totally new?

The 2010 Honda CRF250 engine is new from the ground up. It shares nothing with the previous CRF250 design. Take a close look at the two photos below. The first is the 2009 CRF250 engine. The second is the 2010 engine. They don't share a single external part. The cases, motor mounts, exhaust pipe, cylinder, head, water pump, kick starter and head stays are all different.
