DREAM JOBS: HOW TO MAKE A LIVING DOING WHAT YOU LOVE

Kurt Rood: Kawasaki Testing Coordinator

KURT ROOD
KAWASAKI TESTING COORDINATOR

STARTING POINT:
“In 1993, I started doing endurance testing for Kawasaki. I went to work for Honda for two years developing watercraft. I came back to Kawasaki in 1999, and I started as a test rider in R&D with Mike Fisher developing production bikes. In 2005, I came over to the motocross race team as the testing coordinator. I’m still the testing coordinator, but I supervise the mechanics and our truck drivers, handle our parts, deal with our sponsors, and do the day-to-day shop stuff.”

THE JOB: “Day to day, I work to keep things going in the shop, like working with sponsors, ordering inventory and scheduling testing. At the races, I do the race reports, help with the video stuff and try to support the mechanics. I have a lot of hats to wear, but when you’re part of a good team, you have to help wherever you can.”
