What’s happening at this year’s “Monster of Motocross” bash at the Sturges Center For Fine Arts in San Bernardino on Saturday night, October 31?
(1)Tony “D” DiStefano will be be honored with Edison Dye Motocross Lifetime Achievement Award.
(2) Bob “Hurricane” Hannah will continue to dish it out the barbs to his fellow racers as the Master of Ceremonies (or is that Monster of Ceremonies?).
(3) David Bailey, Malcolm Smith, Brad Lackey, Larry Huffman, Danny LaPorte, Mark Barnett, John DeSoto, Gary Jones, Tommy Croft, Marty Smith, Donnie Hansen, Keith McCarty, Dave Arnold and many other former National stars will be there.
(4) There will be a beer garden outside along with a display of many famous vintage bikes (to go along with the men who raced them).
(5) Todd Huffman will debut a director’s cut of his yet-to-be-released “Carlsbad USGP” film. And it is expected that Jody Weisel will produce another short film to rival his "motocross Immortals" from last year.
(6) “Monster of Motocross is held in conjunction with the World Vet Championship at Glen Helen Raceway (and the beautiful, historic Sturges Center for the Fine Arts is only a few miles away from Glen Helen. For all the racers who will be in town for the Vet race, the Saturday night “Monsters of Motocross” gala will make the event even more special. Doors open at 5:00 pm with show starting at 7:30 pm.
(7) The event raises funds for the Reeve-Irvine Research Center for spinal cord injury research.
(8) Tickets go on sale October 1st, 2009, online by going to www.MonstersofMotocross.com and through select Southern California motorcycle retailers like Malcolm Smith Motorsports and Cycle Gear. Tickets will be $30 each or two for $50.
