Bud Feldkamp, President of Glen Helen Raceway Inc. is proud to announce that this year’s Glen Helen National will be known as the “South Point Hotel & Casino Motocross National,” which will take place as round #1 of the “Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship series”. The world’s top motocross riders will kick off the chase for this most prestigious title on Saturday May 23, 2009.

 GLEN HELEN NATIONAL: How It Is All Going To Work; Fan Fest, Race Schedule; Entertainment, Air Show, Hillclimb, Jam-packed Weekend
AMATEUR RACES: The Glen Helen National amateur races take place on Thursday and Friday. On Sunday, after the Saturday AMA National, there will be an Pro Quad race on the National track.
GATES OPEN: Gates for the South Point Hotel & Casino Motocross National open to the public at 6 a.m. on May 23, followed by on-track festivities at 8:00 a.m. with Two-stroke, women's and National practice and qualifying (for the 450 Class and 250 Classes).
PIT PASSES: Every ticket is a pit pass at Glen Helen, so at 9:00am head to the pits. No charge..the way it should be!
OPENING CEREMONIES: Opening ceremonies celebrate the official start of the 2009 season at 12:30 p.m. with final motos for all three classes beginning with a parade lap at 12:50 p.m.
AIR SHOW: On Sunday, during opening ceremonies, there will be an aerobatic display by world famous pilot Doug Jardine in his Russsian-built, carbon fiber, radial-engined Sukhoi.
MOTO SCHEDULE: After practice, qualifying, Last Chance races and the opening ceremonies, the main events will start at 1:00 pm. The first moto will be the WMA women (followed by the 450 National and 250 National). The two-stroke race will be during the break between the first and second motos. Then, the women, 450s and 250s will race their second moto. The final moto will end at 6:50 pm.
TV SCHEDULE: The Glen Helen National 450 class will be on Speed at 6:00 pm (9:00 pm eastern) on Saturday night. In fact, the only one 450 moto will air, while the second 250 moto is on the track (in real time).
L.A. SLEEVE TWO-STROKE CHALLENGE: After the first round of motos, the L.A. Sleeve Two-Stroke Challenge will take place. Riders in the 40-man two-stroke race will include Ron Lechien, Doug Dubach, Phil Lawrence, Justin Mace, Shaun Palmer, Chuck Sun, Kenny Zahrt, Austin Howell, Ryan Dudek, Richie Owens and Jimmy Lewis.
FRIDAY FAN FEST: Glen Helen will host the inaugural Monster Energy Fan Fest on Friday, May 22. Fan Fest allows motocross fans the chance to get up close and personal with some of the sport's top riders as well the chance to meet the legends and hero's of the past, including Gary Jones, Doug Dubach, Chuck Sun, David Bailey and Broc Glover. Fan Fest officially kicks off at 4 p.m. on Friday and concludes at 6 p.m., but early attendees can catch a glimpse of the world's best riders on-track during an exclusive one-hour riding session from 3-4 p.m. The stars of the 450, 250, and WMA classes will all be logging laps in preparation for Saturday's big event. Autograph signings and live interviews will follow throughout the pit area from 4-5 p.m.
HILLCLIMB DEMO: In addition, fans can witness hill climbing legends Robbie and Brett Peterson, who will provide a nitro-fueled hillclimb demonstration up Mount St. Helen. There will also be a large display of vintage motocross bikes as well as a number of other attractions and vendors.
