2009 WORLD VET CHAMPIONSHIP STARTS TODAY:
THE 25TH ANNUAL MTA WORLD VET CHAMPIONSHIP AT GLEN HELEN

Hughes had a mechanical problems in last year's Over-30 Pro class, but
no sweat, he's won the World Vet crown twice already.
The 25th Annual MTA World Vet Championship starts today, Saturday, October 31st and resumes on Sunday, November 1, 2009.
HERE ARE THE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
OVER-25 CLASSES: The Over-25 classes are held on Saturday, October 31, only. No under-30 year old riders will be allowed to race on Sunday.
OVER-40 PRO CLASS: The big class on Saturday is the $2000 Over-40 Pro race (Although all of the other classes will race on Saturday also, but the actual "World Vet Championship" titles for every class but Over-40 pro and Over-25 are handed out from Sunday's results).
OVER-30 PRO CLASS: On Sunday, the $6000 Over-30 Pro class is held. All the other classes will be held on Sunday for the Over-40 amateur classes and Novice, Intermediate and Experts titles in the Over-50, Over-60 and Over-70 titles.
CLASSES: There are classes for Over-30, Over-35, Over-40, Over-45, Over-50, Over-60, Over-7- and Women (Over-30). There are Novice, Intermediate and Expert classes--in addition to the two Pro classes. There are no Beginner classes.
ENTRIES: Pre-entries (at www.glenhelen.com) are $40 per class; Post entry is $45 per class. Over-30 Pro entry is $85.
AGE LIMITS: Age limits are strictly enforced and you must bring your
driver’s license to sign-up.
PRACTICE: Glen Helen will be open on Thursday, October 29 for practice by all ages; On Friday October 30 for riders entered in the World Vet and racing starts bright and early on Saturday morning. The Thursday and Friday practices will have shortened hours--get there early.
SCORING: Scoring will be by transponder. There will be no charge for the transponders, but a deposit may be necessary to keep riders from forgetting to return them when the race is over.
"MONSTERS OF MOTOCROSS": On Saturday Night after the races, Todd Huffman will present his “Monsters of Motocross” gala in nearby San Bernardino. More motocross stars than you can shake a stick at show up for the “Monster of Motocross" night.Included will be honored guest Tony DiStefano along with Brad Lackey, Marty Smith, Gerrit Wolsink, John DeSoto, Chuck Sun, Gary Jones and Steve Stackable. The event will be hosted by Bob Hannah.
In addition, On Sunday Tony D will be inducted into the Glen Helen Walk of Fame (last year’s honoree was Bob Hannah).
