2010 YZ450F: CLOSE-UP LOOK AT BIG BLUE:

The Truth Is Revealed, This Is The Real 2010 Yamaha YZ450F; A Bike Like No Other Bike

Triple clamp offset has been changed from 25mm to 22mm, the bars are four-way adjustable, the airbox is just in front of the gas tank (and accessed by flipping the rear-hinged gas tank up), the rear shock is centered in the frame (and angled more towards the front) and the Kayaba SSS forks have a 10mm longer stroke.

Not only is the cylinder tilted backwards, but the crank has been offset 12mm from the piston center line. By offsetting the crank, the force is transferred vertically down the connecting rod to use the power of combustion more efficiently (and to reduce the side load on the piston).

There are no parts in the 2010 Yamaha YZ450F engine that came from the 2009 YZ450F. The bore is now 97.0mm with a shorter 60.8m stroke. The compression has been bumped up to 12.5:1 and the head is now a four-valve.

The downdraft fuel injection throttle body is 44mm unit (Honda uses a 50mm throttle body, while Suzuki and Kawasaki uses 43mm units). Yamaha will offer a Playstation-style tuner that allows the fuel/air ratio and ignition timing to be changed at nine different points on the curve. Best of all, the GYTR Power Tuner plugs directly into the YZ450F without the need for a computer or external battery.

Without an airbox and the cylinder turned around backwards, Yamaha was able to get the tuned length of the YZ450F exhaust pipe by looping it around. The Tornado exhaust even has a resonance chamber in the head pipe
