ASK THE MXPERTS:

Wasn't Bob Hannah Just As Wild And Crazy As Jason Lawrence? The Old Guys Have Memory Loss When They Complain About Young Guys

Dear MXA,
Why is everyone so shocked by Jason Lawrence’s on and off track behavior. He is just following in the footsteps of Bob Hannah?

Don’t be stupid, you moron. Bob Hannah never engaged in multiple drunk driving offenses, was never arrested for fighting, never skipped out on sponsor-related awards ceremonies, never bit anyone's ear off, never committed a felony and was never sentenced to a year in jail. The pranks of the stars ‘70s were wild and crazy, but they weren’t criminal or mean-spirited.

Factories, teams, energy drinks and aftermarket companies that sponsor Jason Lawrence should check their moral compasses. Not only are they promoting a bad image for the sport, but it in no way has helped Jason deal with his demons. These sponsors are enablers and, worst of all, they are trying to make a buck off a rider's bad boy image (which to some degree probably propels Lawrence to live up to his image).
