ASK THE MXPERTS:

Can I Swap My 2007 YZ450F Titanium Shock Spring To The 2010 YZ450F? I Presume The 2010 Doesn't Have A Titanium Spring

Dear MXA,
    Can I swap my 2007 YZ450F titanium shock spring to the 2010 YZ450F? I presume the 2010 doesn't have a titanium spring.

No, you can't. Originally, when we asked Yamaha if this was possible, they said that it could be done, but it turns out that they misunderstood us or we misunderstood them. It can't be done because the 2010 shock spring has a much larger diameter than the previous YZ450F springs. Thus, the old Ti spring will not slip over the 2010 shock body.
