ASK THE MXPERTS: 2008 HONDA CRF450 FORKS?

My 2008 CRF450 Forks Are Jarring Me To Death. What Is The Cheapest Fix?

Dear MXA,
I got a great deal from my local shop on a leftover 2008 Honda CRF450. The deal was good, but I hate the forks. They are so jarring that I dread braking bumps. What is the cheapest fix (money is tight)?

The cheapest and best fix is to lower the oil height in each fork leg by 10cc. You could end up as much as 20cc lower to get the feel you like. This is a free fork fix. Remove the forks from the bike, remove the air bleed screw, turn the fork upside-down and gently pump 10cc of fork oil out. Put the bleed screw back in and ride. Repeat if necessary.
