ASK THE MXPERTS: CAN YOU CHANGE POWERBANDS BETWEEN BIKES?

It depends on the the width and the material used, but the answer is an unequivical yes

Dear MXA,
My friend and I got into an argument. He said that he was going to take the power band off his old bike and put it on his new bike. I said it can't be done. Who is right?

The typical stainless steel power band and acutator.

You didn't say whether his old bike had a titanium or stainless steel power band. That makes a difference. Hopefully, his old band will be compatible with the new Newton (Nm) standards that went into effect last year.
