ASK THE MXPERTS; USGP ENTRY NEWS

How do AMA Pro riders go about entering the USGP? Do they have to contact Youthstream? How much is the entry fee?
How do AMA Pro riders go about entering the USGP? Do they have to contact Youthstream? How much is the entry fee?

They do not have to contact Youthstream or the FIM. AMA Pro riders only have to contact the AMA. Their AMA/SX licenses are already FIM licenses. According to sources close to the event, a major sponsor is paying the entry fees for all the American riders—thus, AMA Pro riders do not need to buy an FM license or pay an entry fee.

But, they have to contact the AMA at http://home.ama-cycle.org/raceresults/typeindex.asp?s=90&year=2010 ...or call (614) 856-1920 and contact Jane Caston at the AMA. They have until Monday to enter.

HERE ARE THE DETAILS FROM THE AMA

GENERAL INFORMATION

Riders wishing to participate in the 2010 FIM MX1, MX2 Motocross World Championship or the Veteran Motocross World Cup must enter through their respective FMN (which in the USA is the AMA).

To be eligible for participation in FIM World Championships or Prize Events and in order to obtain a FIM license, the riders must personally sign the "Acknowledgment and Agreement of the FIM Anti-Doping Code."  All forms from under-age applicants must be counter-signed by their legal guardians.

Please note that the rider should always have with him a copy of his "Acknowledgement and Agreement of the FIM Anti-Doping Code," which has been certified by the AMA. We suggest that he keeps this copy with his FIM license.

Riders must submit the entry form, duly completed, to their respective FMN, for approval. Once the entry has been approved, the FMN concerned will forward the completed entry form to YouthStream.

The closing date for entries is 15 days before the meeting.

Entry information for United States Participants

The AMA as the FMNR (host federation) organizing a FIM MX1/MX2 Motocross World Championship Grand Prix may enter two riders in each class. AMA will nominate riders from the United States applicants. Additional entries may be accepted by the promoter (Youthstream) depending on the number of permanent riders participating.

The AMA as the FMNR (host federation) organizing a FIM Veteran Motocross World Cup race does not have the ability to nominate riders however expect there will be numerous positions available and accepted by the promoter (Youthstream).

Entry application forms should initially be forwarded to AMA.

Approved entries will be notified 20 days prior to the event.
