In this REM photo you can see a pack as they head up Mt. Whitney (which can be run in either direction...but is still a steep uphill and followed by a steep downhill either way).
The summer heat should be turned off by Saturday for the return of REM to Glen Helen (after a two-week break for the WORCS Quads and Bikes). REM practice doesn't start until 9:00 a.m. and, if everything goes right, REM will manage to get all its motos in and still be out of Glen Helen by 2:00 pm. REM has a knack for running the races efficiently, holding longer motos than any other race in SoCal and keeping things mellow.
Given MXA's busy schedule, most of the MXA guys will be there (except for John Basher who has something really important to do this weekend) because we are still putting the finishing touches on our 2012 450 Shootout (due out in the next issue) and MXA 250 Shootout for the issue after that.
There is an Lucas Oil Offroad Championship race on the car track this weekend (REM racers can come down the left side of the park entrance road—exit side—to miss all of the offroad trucks and motor homes lined up to get in the front gate—please wave as you drive by).
