DREAM JOBS: HOW TO MAKE A LIVING DOING WHAT YOU LOVE

Craig Davis was a Pro racer who knew what racers wanted from a race promoter: so he became one

CRAIG DAVIS
VET X RACE PROMOTER

STARTING POINT
: “My first job in the industry was as track support for a race company, and it was really just a way to keep me racing. I was on the Over The Hill Gang board for a year, but I was looking for a different market. I felt there wasn’t a lot out there for vets. I felt there was a niche to fill and ended up starting Vet X.”

THE JOB
: “There are a lot of jobs within the job, like scheduling races, keeping sponsors up to date, answering phones, dealing with all the financial stuff, staring at the weather and meeting with track owners. The most rewarding thing is seeing guys have a good race and pull off the track and high-five each other. Being a promoter, you end up talking to everybody. I’ve met so many great people who I would never have met before this job.”
