GODSPEED! DANE LEIMBACH (1951-2011)

If there was a first family of American offroad racing it was the Pentons—and Dane Leimbach was a Penton to his roots

Dane Penton Leimbach, 60, passed away Wednesday, November 16 after an 18 month battle with A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig's disease).Dane was born in Lorain, Ohio, and excelled in the offroad endurance racing on the national and international aevel in the 1960's and 70's. For seven consecutive years he was on the United States team competing in the International Six Days Trials. Dane won six gold medals and a bronze. He was co-owner of Penton Racing Products in Amherst.

Dane is survived by his four children, Kelly, Sarah, Liesel, and Paul; plus two grandchildren, Michayla and Riley, his mother Pat Leimbach, and his brother, Orrin.
Dane was preceded in death by his father Paul and his brother Ted.

Dane and his cousin not only raced this bikes into the history books, but they developed them.

Dane’s cousin, Jack Penton said, “You may not know Dane but there is a good chance you have been touched by his contribution to motorcycling."

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the ALS Association, Development Dept., 27001 Agoura Rd. Suite 250, Calabasas Hills, CA 91301.
