Rusted and water-logged this bike should be in a motorcycle museum as a reminder of the devastation in Japan.
According to CBC news: An ATV rider on a remote beach in British Columbia, Canada, found a white container on the beach. The door was open and inside was a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The bike’s license plate was registered in Japan's Miyagi Prefecture.
Miyagi Prefecture was the worst hit part of Japan, with more than 11,000 people dead. Numerous white trucks and containers were washed out to sea. It is assumed that the container and its Harley contents are debris from the Japanese earthquake and tsunami. More than 1.5 million tons of tsunami debris are drifting in the Pacific Ocean. It should be noted that the debris is a sobering remind of the fragility of human life and material possessions...and everyone should remember that this bike was once the prized possession of someone who’s life was changed forever by a natural disaster.
On the good news front, the 29-year-old Japanese owner of the Harley has been found. His name is Ikuo Yokoyama. He lost his home and three family members in the tsunami and was now living in temporary accommodation. And told the news media that his fondest memories were of touring Japan on his Harley. A Harley-Davidson spokesman said that they will restore the bike for Ikuo.
