KYLE LOZA GETS READY FOR BEST TRICK AT X-GAMES

In X-Games Best Trick, each contestant will have two tries to throw down the best, single trick that they can. These guys are constantly innovating and pushing the limits. Rumor has it that four out of eight contestants are planning to attempt tricks that have never been landed in competition before.
In the photo above, Kyle Loza pushes the limits with a bike flip at the 2011 Monster Energy Cup event. He didn't land it, and although practicing for the bike flip has resulted in injury and missing competitions in the past, Loza has stayed determined to pull it off. After all, he is a three times Best Trick Winner (remember the Electric Death?) Loza's run should be a highlight on Friday night. CLINTON MOORE TO ATTEMPT 720 AT X-GAMES
Moore practicing the 720 into the foam pit.
When most of us watch freestyle guys do a new trick, we think “Not for a million bucks!” But when other freetyle guys watch their piers try a new trick, they consistently think “Hey, I bet I could do that!” Australian Freestyle Motocross rider Clinton Moore has been invited to make his return to X Games this year to compete in Freestyle MX Best Trick and perform one of the biggest tricks ever, the 720 degree spin. Clinton narrowly missed a podium place in 2010 X Games Best Trick with a Volt to Seat Grab body varial combo, and in 2011 Clinton made the toughest decision of his career to pull out of X Games due to shoulder surgery.
In 2012, Clinton will aim to re-write the history books by landing the first 720 degree spin in competition, a feat which FMX legend Travis Pastrana attempted but did not complete at the 2009 and 2011 X Games. Moore has been working on the 720 spin for over 3 years, and is now confident he can land the trick which has been on his mind for so long.
“Last year I was planning to do the 720 at Best Trick, but with injury and talking to Travis I realized there was no point in trying it and hurting myself more.” Moore said.
“I went to Pala Raceway for Nitro Circus Live training and I watched Travis doing the 720 into the foam pit, and you could see he had it dialled. Around the same time I dislocated my shoulder a couple of times and then did a lot of damage in X-Fighters Rome and that was the moment I knew I had to pull out of X Games”
“It was helpful talking to Travis about it, and he gave me some pointers on how he gets the bike more level and stop it from panning out flat at the end. The advice was really good, but there is also the problem with getting the last 90 degrees of the spin. So it has just been time and patience to progress the trick and get it perfected.”
“The past few months I have been trying new things in terms of body position, using the foot hook, the way I hit the ramp, the distance from 45ft to 47ft jacked up and now 50ft on the Superkicker. I’ve learned a lot about the trick and I’m ready to get this monkey off my back!”
Moore will be performing the 720 at X Games FMX Best Trick on June 29th at Staples Centre, Los Angles, USA.
Clinton Moore is supported by FlightPath Materials, Alpinestars, Ashs Spoked Wheelz, KustomMX, Tag, Motul, RK Chains, JT Sprockets, Torc1 Racing and Choice Suspension.
PASTRANA'S 720 RECAP:
Here is a recap of Pastrana's 720 attempts to dirt (He went with a 125 for less rotating mass). You know it's a difficult trick when even the mighty Travis Pastrana looks awkward attempting it.

WHO'S COMING BACK AT RED BUD?

James Stewart? Red Bud?
With all the riders on the injured list, and the recent breaks in the outdoor schedule, fans are always wondering who's coming back from the injured list? Unfortunately many of the top guy's injuries are too severe to return this series (Villopoto, Canard, Wilson, Durham, Morais) but we wanted to check on the 'maybes.'
James Stewart: We know his wrist is at least good enough for a top five, but we also know that James doesn't like to finish in second, let alone top five.
Tommy Hahn: Talk about ups and downs, Hahn went holeshot to broken finger at Thunder Valley. If the original doctor's estimate is correct, Tommy should be riding, but we don't know if he'll make the next race.
Tyla Rattray: We have caught Tyla out at local SoCal tracks testing and practicing and he appears to healthy and ready to go. We can't say for sure, but we expect to see him at Red Bud.
Chad Reed: Chad is supposed to be back on the bike in July, but that doesn't mean ready to race. Chad will need a bit more time.
Christian Craig: Christian will be back in action as evidenced by this video:

VINTAGE MOTORCYCLE DAYS FIELD MEET AT MID-OHIO IN JULY
The 2011 Vintage Days Field meet was a success. Have you ever competed in a barrel race, slow race or ride the plank competition? It's just one special part of an old-school field meet.
The field meet is one of motorcycling's most iconic activities, when riders get together and display their riding skills in an organized setting. This July 20-22, the American Motorcyclist Association will feature these classic games at AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, featuring Rockers and Mods, held at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.
The AMA Classic Field Meet Challenge will take place on the infield of the roadrace course on Friday, July 20, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Saturday, July 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sunday, July 22, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. ABATE of Ohio will oversee registration and officiating. Registration will take place on site each morning. "The main goal of all field meets is the same: for everyone to have fun," said AMA Director of Operations and AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famer Jack Penton. "Activities are designed to be as entertaining as they are challenging. These aren't trials contests! You certainly don't need a particular type of motorcycle, and you don't need any special skills -- beyond a healthy confidence in your own ability to maneuver your motorcycle."
Individual events will include activities such as a barrel race, a balloon toss, a slow race, Bite the Weenie, Ride the Plank and Whack the Murphy. Other games will be included, as well. The winning riders of each event will receive a medallion for each day of competition. There is no extra cost to register and participate in the AMA Classic Field Meet Challenge, but a small donation to the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame is encouraged. Riders will need to ride their own motorcycle or scooter and wear appropriate gear (helmet, long pants and eye protection are mandatory). Motorcycles or scooters can be from any era; they do not need to be vintage to participate.
With proceeds supporting the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame, AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days is the country's premier celebration of vintage motorcycles and motorcycling heritage. In addition to the AMA Classic Field Meet Challenge, the event includes amateur national championship roadracing, demo rides of current street and off-road motorcycles, motocross, hare scrambles, trials and dirt-track in vintage classes. The weekend also features North America's largest motorcycle swap meet, bike shows and seminars on a number of topics by noted motorcycling experts. This year's AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days will celebrate the classic "Rockers and Mods" two-wheeled subculture that is experiencing a popular resurgence in America. Activities will shine a spotlight on British café-racer motorcycles and Italian metal-bodied scooters made popular by the self-described Rockers and Mods of the early 1960s.
The grand marshal this year is AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame member and noted designer Craig Vetter, whose contributions to motorcycling range from the iconic Windjammer fairings and the Triumph X-75 Hurricane to the Mystery Ship limited-production, high-performance motorcycles and a number of high-profile motorcycle fuel-economy contests. Tickets for AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days can be purchased at www.midohio.com. More information about AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days can be found at www.amavintagemotorcycledays.com.
