THE WORLD’S FIRST $54,000 PRODUCTION RACE BIKE: BUY TWO, GET ONE FOR THE WIFE

The kids don't need a college education, buy a KTM Moto3 250 GPR production race bike instead.

At last week’s German GP KTM debuted its latest “ready to race” machine, the 2013 KTM Moto3 250 GPR production race bike. For only $54,000, the buyer gets a race-ready 250cc Moto3 road race machine that produces just under 50 horsepower. KTM will be accepting orders for the 2013 MotoGP season (it will also be used in the 2013 Red Bull Rookie Cup) until October 1, 2012, and the bikes will be available in February of 2013.

The Production KTM 250 GPR is similar to the one raced by current Moto3 points leader Sandro Cortese (although not exact). The production racer revs to 13,500 rpm, uses RC8R electronics, Special Moto3-only 250cc engine, Akrapovic exhaust, Brembo brakes and OZ forged aluminum wheels.
