The first season was fastantic. But, you are in denail if you care to pretend that it has ever been that good since.Flashing forward is a gimmick they created because they could not come up with a better cliffhanger. They also cheated. If my father knew what you were doing to me' um, Jack, this is the future and your father was dead before you even were on a plane that crashed. This comes up more than once in his future' scenes in the hospital. Sorry big gimmick means no cheating allowed. They have enough time travel issues without introducing this mess. They did a woeful job of explaining why Michael would become a murderer and traitor to save Walt. Of all the crazy motivations they have not explained, this should have been the easiest. This is typical of the writing. They create interesting situations or an unexpected twist without ever trying to back it up with real, honest motivation. On a side note, it is totally inexcusable to send Walt & Michael off the island and never get back to them for more than two seasons. Are they ever going to explain how Sawyer and company magically floated back to the island after the Others took Walt and blew up their boat? No. You don't think they might have noticed the 2nd island at some point on this boat journey either back or forth? Are they ever going to explain why the shark in the water with them had a Dharma Initative stamp on it? No.You found it believable that Jack went from Losties Captain to best friends with the Others? You found it believable that he would just up and leave everyone on the island? To do what? Enjoy his great life back on the mainland? That was TOTAL b.s.!! They never bothered to explain it, and that's because Jack would have never done that. Ever. Color me shocked that rather than try to get to the bottom of his about face, they just turned him back into Jack the leader. You found it believable they spent 2 and 1/2 seasons building up how Locke was not capable of killing anyone, even someone from his past that had wronged him in immeasurable ways, but then he shoots and kills a total stranger who had parachuted to the island?Jin and 2 other Losties stay at camp and surprise the Others near the end of Season Three. They kill a number of the Others, but are captured. While Ben and Jack and most of the cast are off to the communication tower, Ben orders the Others to kill them if Jack won't coorperate. Jack refuses, and Ben tells the Others to kill their prisoners, but they decide to shoot into the sand???!!?? Utterly preposterous. UTTERLY PREPOSTEROUS!!! O, surprise, surprise, Hurley and Sawyer end up saving Jin and company later in that same episode. You didn't find it odd that Charlie did not try to save himself? The Russian blew a hole into the underwater communication room. Charlie did not get hurt or concussed by the blast. He just sat there while the water rose slowly. How about demonstrating that the hole wasn't big enough for him to squeeze through. EIther way, he could have gone to the other side w/ Desmond, and they both could have escaped. There wasn't anything dire happening on the other end of the door once it was sealed. If they could not reseal it, then get out. This isn't a M Night Shamalladingdong movie. I'm glad you still enjoy it, but don't tell me it's still as good. You can't build characters and then have them do something they would never do just to move the story forward unless you explain that motivation. They do this routinely on Lost. Sorry, I call that bad tv.Lost is episodic. You can't just ignore the bad seasons for the good since the story builds off each show. Saying this past season was a return to form and the show is great again sounds like surge supporters telling me we're winning in Iraq. You can't take events in a vacuum. The 2nd and 3rd seasons are full of holes and unexplained character turns that can't be ignored. It's a shame, too. They really had something in that first season.I get it. You are too invested to stop watching now, and it's still better than 80%, if not more, of what's out there. That's all well and good, but don't say it's back. They jumped the shark. There is no jumping back.
