First and foremost, the Supercross purse money is inadequate for the risks that the riders take, but the Supercross purse is considerably higher than the AMA National purse and the Grand Prix riders don’t even get paid at day’s end from the race promoter. The top AMA Supercross riders can justified the small purse money because they have 6 or 7 digit factory contracts and big bonus checks that pay $100,000 to any factory rider who wins a 450 Supercross. They also get bonus checks for second, third and however far down they negotiated in their contracts. A winning factory rider will make around $150,000 to win one race.
But we are focused on AMA purse money only...and who won the most over the last five weeks. This is how much money the stars made, just from purse money in the first 37 days of the season? How much did you take home this month?
