Weston Peick won the first race of the double Supercross that is paired with the Australian MotoGP race, but broke his collarbone in practice before the second round.

Brett Metcalfe, in his debut in this year’s Australian Supercross Championship, holeshot the 450 main as points leader Matt Moss, Daniel McCoy and Jacob Wright crashed. Moss finished 11th and lost the points lead. Weston Peick came from fourth to catch and pass Metcalfe on lap four. Towards the end of the race Josh Hill worked his way up to Metcalfe, who made a mistake on lap 19 to give Hill second place.

Metcalfe, who finished third said, “It has been a long time since I have raced Supercross, it literally has been 18 months. I had two and a half days practice before coming here this weekend, it was all a last minute rush and I was a little rusty.

In the 250 class, reigning Australian 250 Supercross Champion Gavin Faith went wire-to-wire for the win. Points leader Luke Styke finished third behind Faith and Ryan Marmont.
